APOCALYPTIC SURREALISM
This website is dedicated to the display, promotion and understanding of THE VISIONARY WORKS (pictures, paintings, sculptures, writings, music) OF NORBERT H. KOX.
The purpose of his artworks and writings are to promote and encourage research and investigation into religious traditions and all spiritual matters. "The Truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
This site displays artworks that challenge traditions and expose falsehoods. The imagery is vivid, harsh and confrontational, and is sometimes misunderstood.
This is not a hate site. It is an expository of truth versus falsehood. It presents factual information. This site is pro-Christ, not antichrist. This site does not present anti Catholic material. It presents truth and facts. It exposes counterfeits and dupes, whether Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Moslem, Hindu, Buddhist, Satanist, New Age, or any other religion, non-religion, or philosophy.
NORBERT H. KOX was born August 6, 1945, just nine hours after the dragon's tail was tickled at Hiroshima, Japan, exploding the "Little Boy" (atomic bomb) like a star hurled down from the heavens to rain its ferocious destruction upon mankind.
Kox's APOCALYPTIC VISUAL PARABLES (Raw Vision) utilize powerful symbolic metaphors to awaken modern man from his spiritual malaise and counter centuries of Biblical mistranslations. His artworks present a prophetic revelation, or apocalypse of the end times, that expose falsehoods and reveal facts. Many of these works contain his own poetry and writings, along with Bible verses and Bible Codes (the "Torah Code") written within the work for reference.
Kox has created artwork since childhood. He has painted in oils since 1963 (40 years) and acrylic with oil since 1975. He has developed his own techniques of translucent acrylic glazing to produce the same intensely glowing effects and illusionary dimensional space that he achieves with oils. His style and technique have become an unmistakable trademark distinguishing his works from any others.
Kox has taught his techniques of luminous painting at Summer Art Studio, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, since 1989.
Due to the unique esoteric presentation of his subject matter Kox has been called, "The most misunderstood artist in America." He has also been called, "One of the most controversial artists in America."
His 1999 exhibit, To Hell and Back, received national media coverage, and remained in the news for 3.5 months, including many television broadcasts and several radio talk shows. It was also protested by the New York Catholic Defense League, and was picketed by local fanatics (these works are pro-truth, not anti Catholic).
Many people have been disturbed by these works, and that is the intent: to disturb people enough to incite them to question their own religious roots, and to embark upon a research and investigation of inherited religious traditions which are often founded on mistranslation, misinterpretation and misunderstanding.
Kox's artworks (painting, poems, sculpture, music, and Biblecodes) are intended to encourage people to think for themselves, and not be led like blind sheep to the slaughter.
