David Klein and Norbert Kox are long-time friends, having met in the early 1980's when they were both heavily into cave exploration. Together they were involved in many cave discoveries, often as a result of much excavation.
This love of caves has inspired several paintings for each of these artists.
David's first painting, The Last Rose (with sentry posted at cave entrance) was sold at a Wisconsin Speleological Society auction, and was bought by Kox's sister, Carolyn Wendricks (past editor Wisconsin Caver).
In turn, Kox's greatest cave-setting inspiration came in his classic, Yesu the Glorious Christ in the Pit of Hell: He has tasted Death that we might have Life (cover of The End is Near).
The two artists have been in many exhibits together over the past twenty years, and continue to inspire and encourage one another. |
